Work pressure, family life & associated responsibilities and times of uncertainty can all causes different levels of stress for different people. The one factor that everyone has in common, is when the body perceives stress in any form, it produces cortisol, which promotes the liver to increase the production of blood sugar. Long term, this causes a myriad of health issues such as high blood pressure, increased risk of heart attacks, anxiety & depression to name a few.
Important life events such as moving home, getting a divorce, or career changes can lead to you having a feeling of lethargy and tiredness. The issue really starts when this feeling becomes normal. Modern society has conditioned the large majority of us towards desk jobs which means you may not be moving nearly as much as you should be. This is especially true when working from home. this can also cause difficulty sleeping and a viscous cycle is created.
Poor performance at work, being unable to meet targets and deadlines can all be linked to a lack of focus. Simple tasks take longer to complete and you have poor or no time management. The truth is concentration and focus are important life skills we are not taught in the modern schooling system. You may even find yourself having difficulty communicating in relationships and becoming more snappy or irritable.
The movements in Choi Kwang Do have the unique ability to not only help relieve stress, but also to help whole brain development. The techniques work both body and mind which naturally helps to alleviate modern day stress which you may be suffering from. You will get not only a great cardio workout, but the technical skill development will also give you effective and powerful self defence techniques.
Our classes do not involve competition, as research has proven this to be a cause of stress and anxiety, rather students work with one another to help each other in a safe, controlled environment. The yoga and warm up stretches that we use and well as drills within the martial art are all done in a safe way, tailored to each individual’s ability. We have great experience as instructors within the art, to be able to guide and nurture each individual’s journey towards their goals – there is never any pressure to keep up with a certain pace or tempo in any of our classes.
Combining all these aspects together, along with our friendly atmosphere and approachable knowledgeable instructors, we find individuals that train regularly gain higher levels of energy. We also have lots of feedback around improved concentration as the movements in Choi Kwang Do use complex motor skills in the body, which naturally improves levels of focus leading to better overall performance for the individual in all aspects of life.
Our unique curriculum will make sure you are constantly progressing towards your goals
Our instructors all have plenty of experience working with students of all ages and abilities. We are passionate about your child’s progress and can assure you we will be there to support and progress their journey in Choi Kwang Do so they build positive traits and habits

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge, Till on the haunting flares2 we turned our backs And towards our distant rest3 began to trudge. Men marched asleep. dropped behind.
